Various rulers of Vasai had their own system of currency and coins. Here are pictures of some of those coins to illustrate how Vasai’s economy evolved. (British India coins: One Rupee equals 16 Anna, one Anna equals 6 paise.)
|European Era Coins|
The old money found around Vasai probably originated well before European era. People called it Dhabbu (ढब्बू) paisa because it had no monetary value. These coins were found often after rains when washed soil exposed the coins.
